Cardiff City Ladies : Embracing Change

Celebrating Roots CARDIFF – Today marks a cornerstone moment for Cardiff City Ladies. As we warmly usher in our new chapter at Vanguard Way, we equally rejoice in welcoming Gemma Donnelly as our first full-time First Team Manager.

Our recent moves symbolise more than change; they reflect a commitment to advancing our legacy while ensuring our players experience the best in technical, tactical, physical, and wellbeing domains.

Damien Singh, co-owner, passionately noted, “These past weeks have been nothing short of transformational. Gemma joining us is not just an appointment; it’s a testament to where we’re headed. Her two decades of experience will undoubtedly steer us towards a brighter, more competitive future.”

Upon her appointment, Gemma shared, “The takeover news caught my attention because I’ve always admired the passion and commitment of everyone at Cardiff City Ladies, especially Karen and Michele. Julian’s call, detailing the vision he shares with Damien and acknowledging the work already in place, convinced me this is the right path.”

Karen Jones emphasised the journey thus far and the road ahead, “We’ve always strived to offer our girls the best. And while the team has worked so hard this season, Gemma’s arrival gives us the direction and structure we’ve been aiming for. We’re more than a club; we’re a family. And today, that family grows stronger.”

The celebration extends beyond appointments as we inaugurated our new offices at Vanguard Way. Our gratitude is vast and deep for Jason Gill and Workbench, the ever-efficient OGI team, and CS Promotions for their invaluable contributions during this transition.

Julian Jenkins, co-owner, shared some insights into the swift changes, “The last weeks have been a mix of long days and exciting developments. A dedicated space, a home, was part of our larger strategy. The support from Jason Gill, Mari Stevens from OGI, and Paul Carey at CS Promotions have been instrumental in turning our vision into reality. This is a double celebration as we bring such an experienced and professional manager to the club in Gemma Donnelly, I have spent time with Gemma and I know that this will be an amazing addition to the family”.

Michele Adams, a pillar since our inception in 1975, captured the day’s emotion: “Seeing the new offices, witnessing Gemma settle into her role – it’s overwhelming. Karen and I did get emotional because this represents the culmination of months of hard work. With Damien, Julian, and Gemma on board and more exciting additions on the horizon, our club is poised to achieve greater heights on and off the pitch.”

Wrapping up our sentiment, “A heartfelt thanks to each individual who’s been part of our evolving journey. We’re eager and excited to share this renewed chapter with our fans, partners, and the extended Cardiff City Ladies family. See you all against Plymouth. on Sunday, 1st of October, in the League Cup kick-off 2pm”
