A former Gunner, two young sides and a place in the League Plate up for grabs: Gwalia’s festive clash with Arsenal PGAs promises to be one not to miss. Tickets can be bought online from the Gwalia United ticketing website
The Gunners are coming to Gwalia and they’re bringing the next generation of Arsenal talent with them. This Christmas, Gwalia meet Arsenal PGAs in the League Plate on December 20 for a rare chance to see the future stars of the women’s game up close. WSL team Arsenal are among the country’s best-supported clubs, and their PGA squad is part of the pathway developing players for the first team and the Women’s Super League.
There will be a personal story involved in the tie, too. Daisy Ackerman, Gwalia’s leading scorer for 2026–27, was formerly at Arsenal. Ackerman will have the chance to face her old club in a fixture that has all the ingredients for a memorable occasion.
While Arsenal are expected to field what will effectively be an under-21 side, this will itself be a fascinating comparison since Gwalia bring plenty of youth of their own – the team’s age has averaged 19 years and 10 months in the latest few matches – meaning Gwalia’s FA National Women’s League senior women’s team could remarkably even be the younger side on the day; a fantastic advocation for Gwalia’s role in developing new talent.
That makes this more than a big name visiting town. It’s a chance to back Gwalia, see two ambitious young teams go head to head and enjoy a proper cup occasion over the festive period.
Bring your friends, bring the family and get behind Gwalia as they take on Arsenal in the FA Women’s National League Plate. Tickets are only £6 for adults and £2 for u16s and can be purchased from the Gwalia United Ticketing Website
