Gwalia United U15s Celebrate Season Success with Awards Evening Supporting Local Charity

Gwalia United’s U15s squad brought their season to a close in style this weekend, celebrating their annual End of Season Presentation Evening at Boomerang Cardiff—a venue that symbolised more than just football success.

In keeping with Gwalia’s growing reputation for supporting community causes, this year’s event partnered with Boomerang, a Cardiff-based charity working to alleviate poverty and homelessness across the city. The awards evening, held at Boomerang’s welcoming venue, was not only a celebration of the squad’s achievements but also a small contribution to a vital local cause.

The venue was decked out in familiar Gwalia colours, with club signage proudly on display and a nod to the ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations adding an extra touch of sparkle—gold balloons marking half a century since the foundations of the Gwalia story were first laid.

While the trophies and certificates were handed out, the evening was about far more than silverware. Parents, coaches, and players came together to reflect on a season of growth, teamwork, and resilience—a year in which the U15s showed promising development both on and off the pitch.

Award Winners Recognised

The presentation recognised players who have gone above and beyond in their commitment, development, and team spirit throughout the season.

The coveted Players’ Player of the Season award—a reflection of peer respect and admiration—was presented to Lucy, whose performances, attitude, and teamwork earned the votes of her teammates.

Sienna was named Coaches’ Player of the Season, recognised by the Gwalia coaching staff for her outstanding performances, work ethic, and leadership across the year. Fellow teammate Lexi received a Coaches’ Merit Award, highlighting her progress and contribution to the squad’s success.

The Most Improved Player accolade went to Gwenni, whose development over the course of the season caught the eye of both coaches and supporters alike. Rosie was awarded the Most Improved Merit, underlining her consistent hard work and dedication to improving her game.

A core value within Gwalia United is fostering ambition, effort, and positive character. In this spirit, the Junior Dragon Awards—inspired by the club’s commitment to developing young leaders—were awarded to Maddie and Daisy, with Daisy receiving a Merit Award in recognition of her contribution.

Community Spirit at the Heart

The event also marked Gwalia’s continued commitment to integrating football with community action. By choosing Boomerang Cardiff as the venue, the club not only supported a fantastic charity but gave young players and their families an opportunity to connect with a wider purpose beyond the football field.

As Gwalia United continues to grow—both on the pitch and in the community—the U15s squad has shown they are part of a new generation determined to combine sporting success with social responsibility.

With a new season just around the corner, the future looks bright for this promising group of young players.
