Gwalia United Continues Its Support For Charities

Gwalia United is continuing its commitment to supporting local causes through its involvement in the Rat Run, a charity drive raising funds and awareness for Velindre Cancer Centre.

The Rat Run is an adventure with a difference: teams travel from the UK to Benidorm in cars worth no more than £600. The roughly 1,300-mile route is designed to bring people together for a challenge filled with teamwork, creativity and fundraising. Participants take on the journey in their budget cars while supporting a charity close to their hearts. The Rat Run

For Gwalia United, taking part is another way to connect football with the wider community and support people and organisations making a difference. Velindre provides specialist cancer care and support, and the club is proud to help raise the profile of its work through this fundraising effort.

The initiative follows the club’s support for Sepsis Charity Rachel’s Day last season. That event brought people together around an important cause and showed how the Gwalia United community can make a positive contribution beyond the pitch. This season, the club is building on that spirit by supporting Velindre through the Rat Run.

The challenge promises plenty of memorable moments along the way, with the journey to Benidorm offering a colourful backdrop to the fundraising. But at its heart, the Rat Run is about more than the drive: it is an opportunity to raise awareness, support charity and show what can be achieved when people work together.

Gwalia United is pleased to play its part and looks forward to continuing its support for local charities and community initiatives in the seasons ahead.
