Stevie McCarthy-Campbell takes charge of his first home game as Gwalia United Head Coach as we host Tottenham Hotspur’s PGA side in the FA Women’s National League Plate at the USW Sport Park on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
Last weekend, Gwalia fell to a 4-0 away defeat at The Dripping Pan against Lewes. With goals from Olivia Carpenter, Leah Lane, Rebekah Trewhitt and Hannah Godfrey resulted in Gwalia dropping to seventh in the league table.
Sunday will see the team showcase its new all-blue 50th anniversary shirt on home territory for the first time, as we celebrate our half-century as a club. You can find more information across the club’s social media channels and website.
For our visitors, Spurs PGA, this is their last age-grade side before the first team, who play in the WSL.
Managed by Sabiha Jamal, the North London side picked up three points in the National League Cup. After defeats against Luton Town (4-1) and Oxford United (3-1). They booked their place in the Plate competition with a 3-1 win over MK Dons.
On the domestic front in the Professional Game Academy League, Spurs have won twice this season over fellow London-based sides Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.
The winner of this cup tie will advance to the next round of the competition.
