Gwalia United return to league action this weekend, making the trip to Essex to face Hashtag United at the Parkside stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is at 3pm.
After a week off, Cori Williams-Mills’ side goes into this match with two wins from two so far in 2026, backing up a late 2-1 comeback victory over Billericay with a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion PGA side in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s National League Plate. Georgia Walters from the penalty spot and a Tia Asker finish in either half secured us a semi-final place away to Moneyfields next Sunday (February 1st).
For Hashtag, they have also had a strong start to 2026. They kicked off the year with a 1-1 draw away at league leaders Bournemouth. Emma Samways gave Hashtag the lead on the hour mark, before Jessica Hennessy’s goal in the 10th minute of second-half stoppage time denied the Essex-based side an impressive result. Last weekend, Hashtag defeated Barking 1-0 in the Essex Womens Cup.
Going into this clash, only a point separates the sides. Hashtag sit in 9th with 14 points, meanwhile Gwalia are in 10th with 13 points. In this season’s previous meeting back in late August, a goal in the first-half from Tia Asker was the difference, ending in a 1-0 win.
