Gwalia United have been drawn at home against Bristol Rovers in the First Round of the FA Women’s National League Plate.
The tie pits Gwalia against fellow FA Women’s National League Division One South West side Rovers, who they will also face in the league just four days before the scheduled cup fixture.
Rovers booked their place in the competition after finishing third in Group B with three points. Gwalia made sure of their progress in thrilling fashion, winning 4-3 away at Worcester City last Sunday.
Manager Cori Williams-Mills said the squad cannot wait to get started on this year’s Plate journey.
“We are really looking forward to it,” she said after the draw was made. “We will know Bristol Rovers very well by the time the cup tie comes around, which makes it a fascinating one. We want another good run like last season and we will give it everything to get there.”
That run last season took Gwalia all the way to the semi-finals, and the club enter this year’s competition with valuable experience of what it takes to progress in the Plate.
The fixture is scheduled for Sunday 1 November. Kick-off time and ticket prices will be announced in due course.
