Gwalia United have learned their opponents for this season’s FA Women’s National League Cup, with the draw placing the club in Group C alongside Southern Premier League side Cheltenham Town and Division One Midlands opposition in Kidderminster Harriers and Worcester City.
Worcester City arrive into the group as reigning FA Women’s National League Community Club of the Year, having picked up the accolade for 2025-2026 in recognition of the work done off the pitch as well as on it, and will provide a stern test for Gwalia when the sides meet later in the campaign.
The format remains unchanged from previous campaigns. Group winners and the strongest runners-up will progress into the main FA Women’s League Cup knockout stages, while the remaining second-placed sides and the highest-ranked third-placed teams are diverted into the FA Women’s National League Plate, a competition Gwalia know well from recent experience.
It was in that very competition last term that Gwalia’s cup run ended in heartbreak of a sort, before turning into an unlikely adventure. A defeat at home to Swindon Town on the final group matchday cost the club a place in the main knockout draw, sending them instead into the Plate. What followed was a memorable run to the semi-final stage, eventually brought to a close by a 2-0 defeat away at Moneyfields. The experience will offer confidence as much as caution as the club look to go one step further this time around.

Sunday, 27 September 2026 — Worcester City v Gwalia United
Gwalia will open their group campaign away at Cheltenham Town, before a first home tie against Kidderminster Harriers at USW Sport Park, with the section concluding away at Worcester City. The three fixtures will shape the club’s route through the competition in the coming months.
