Gwalia United host Exeter City in our final FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division match of 2025 at the USW Sport Park on Sunday. Kick-off is at 2pm. Last weekend, we made the trip to the MGroup Stadium to face Oxford United, where we were defeated 4-1. Goals from Emma Thompson and Holly Manders had given the home side a two-goal lead heading into half-time.
However, Casi Gregson capitalised on a defensive mishap, scoring from distance to reward Gwalia’s performance with a goal back. A strong second-half display from the visitors was ultimately not enough, with Grace Palmer and Thompson adding to the scoreline.
Visitors Exeter City are also coming into this one off the back of a defeat last time out, as they were beaten 4-0 by Cheltenham Town at Coach Road. Una Lue’s hat-trick and a goal by Clarabella Hall gave the Robins all three points. The Grecians sit in eighth, four points and three places higher than Gwalia.
In the two previous meetings last season, Gwalia obtained a single point from the six available between the sides.
Newport Stadium in September 2024 saw a five-goal clash fall in Exeter’s favour. Gwalia raced into an early two-goal lead at the break, courtesy of Kylie Nolan and Elena Cole. Although Exeter hit back with Georgie Barber-Gresham and Sophie Gillies setting up an intriguing finale to the match. Then the Grecians snatched a winner, coming from behind to win, as Sarah Stacey scored in the 89th minute to secure victory for the visitors.
In the most recent meeting between the sides back in January, Gwalia earned a point on our travels. Despite Mollie Taylor’s opener, Chloe Lloyd scored from 12-yards to level the scores.
