Gwalia United return to league action, hosting Lewes on Sunday in the FA Women’s National Southern Premier Division at the USW Sport Park. Kick-off is at 2pm.
The home side comes into this game high on confidence after a 5-0 win over AFC Wimbledon a fortnight ago. Braces from Georgia Walters and Manon Pearce, and a spectacular effort from Daisy Ackerman ensured that we returned back to winning ways in the league.
Lewes, meanwhile, will look to get back on track. In their last league fixture, the Rooks were defeated by second-place Plymouth 2-0. Prior to this result, Lewes have been in fine form, winning four of the previous five prior. Nine points separate Gwalia and Lewes in the league table. Gwalia have 19 points having played 18 matches, compared to Lewes with 28 points and the same number of games played.
In the reverse fixture at The Dripping Pan in October, Lewes ran out 4-0 winners. Goals from Olivia Carpenter, Leah Lane, Rebekah Trewitt and Hannah Godfrey sealed a clinical win for the Sussex-based side. Sunday’s match is Gwalia’s penultimate home fixture of this season, with tickets available via the ‘Ticket’ tab on the website, and your support means everything to us.
