Next up for Gwalia United is a trip to Real Bedford in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division, looking to return to winning ways after defeat last week. Kick-off at the Ledger Stadium on Sunday is at 2PM.
Lewes were the visitors at the USW Sport Park last time out, losing narrowly 2-3. Gwalia were ahead after five minutes of play, Keira O’Keefe’s volley finding the top right corner. However, Lewes’ Leah Lane soon equalised. Paula Howells’ goal early in the second-half, soon followed by Lane’s second, increased the visitors’ lead. Tia Asker’s cross diverted into the net, but Gwalia could not find the goal to gain a point.
Real Bedford were away at Exeter, where they were defeated 2-1. Issy Bryant’s second-half penalty was cancelled out by Ellie Sara’s spot-kick for the home side, soon followed by a goal by Sophie Gillies.
The hosts sit in seventh, with 26 points, compared to Gwalia’s 19 points. October’s reverse fixture saw Real Bedford win 1-0, Abbie Bensted with the goal within the first 20-minutes.
