GWALIA UNITED SIGN ELIZA COLLIE

Gwalia United is thrilled to announce the signing of prolific striker Eliza Collie from Cardiff City Women ahead of the 2025/26 FA Women’s National League season. Widely regarded as one of Welsh football’s brightest young attacking prospects, Collie arrives with a formidable goal-scoring pedigree and a growing reputation for her sharp movement, intelligent play, and clinical finishing in the final third. She netted an incredible 29 goals in 2024 making Eliza the Adran Premier League’s top scorer. Her arrival marks a major statement of intent from Gwalia United, continuing what has been a transformative summer both on and off the pitch.

Manager James Thomas has long admired Collie’s development and believes her signing is a significant step forward in the club’s ambition to challenge at the top end of the FA WNL and build towards a Championship-ready squad.

“This is a really exciting signing for the club,” said Thomas. “Eliza is a player I’ve been aware of for some time. We’ve kept an eye on her development, and we are delighted to bring her to Gwalia United.

She is a proven goal scorer, and I have no doubts she has the attributes and attitude to make the step up to the FA WNL and play an instrumental part in our journey moving forward.”

Having impressed consistently over the past two seasons with Cardiff City Women, Collie has become known for her maturity beyond her years and her ability to lead the line with confidence. Her track record at Adran Premier level, combined with her ambition to keep developing, makes her an ideal fit for Gwalia United’s evolving identity.

Co-owner Damien Singh echoed Thomas’s sentiments and placed Collie’s signing in the context of the club’s long-term strategic vision:

“Eliza is a player we’ve monitored closely for some time, and we’re delighted she’s chosen Gwalia United for the next stage of her career.

Our mission is clear – to provide the best Welsh footballers with a platform to compete at the highest level of the English pyramid. Eliza embodies everything we’re looking for: talent, ambition, and a proven ability to find the back of the net.”

Singh also emphasised the progress made across the club in recent months as Gwalia prepare for the next chapter.

“This summer has been transformative – we’ve strengthened our squad depth, elevated our coaching expertise, and enhanced our facilities to Championship standards.

Everyone at Gwalia has worked tirelessly during the close season to ensure we’re ready to compete at the level our ambitions demand.”

Collie will link up with James Thomas’ squad immediately and is expected to feature in the club’s upcoming pre-season fixtures against Norwich City and Crystal Palace. Her arrival is viewed not just as a signing, but a signal – that Gwalia United are building something with purpose.

Eliza added: I’m really pleased to have signed for Gwalia United. With the club’s ambitions I definitely knew it was the right decision for me and I can’t wait to get started”

With a clear identity, a proven elite quality support infrastructure, and a hunger to rise through the divisions, Gwalia United are becoming one of the most compelling projects in the women’s game. And with Eliza Collie – scorer of 49 goals in 88 appearances – now in the building, they’ve just added another key piece to the puzzle.
