Ameliah Yarwood Joins Gwalia

Gwalia United have added further quality to their squad with the signing of highly rated young goalkeeper Ameliah Yarwood ahead of the 2025–26 season. Yarwood, who has represented Wales at U17 and U19 level, joins the club after developing through a number of well-regarded programmes, including the FAW Girls Academy, Bristol City Women, and most recently Bristol Rovers. She brings valuable experience and strong technical foundations, having trained and competed in elite environments from a young age.

A confident shot-stopper with excellent distribution and a composed presence under pressure, Yarwood will add depth and competition to the goalkeeping department at Gwalia, a key focus area for the club heading into the new campaign.

Speaking after completing her move, Yarwood said:

“Really excited to be joining Gwalia – can’t wait to get started and give it everything. It’s a big step for me, and I’m excited to learn, grow, and give it my all.”

Gwalia United manager James Thomas expressed his delight at securing the signing:

“Bringing Ameliah to Gwalia is another really exciting signing for us. She is a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential and adds depth to the goalkeeper union at the club. We’ve tracked her development for some time and feel she has the right qualities, both technically and mentally, to really progress here. It’s important for us to build a competitive squad across every position, and Ameliah brings hunger and high standards to that group.”

Yarwood becomes the latest addition in what has been a summer of intent from Gwalia United, with the club assembling a blend of experienced campaigners and high-potential young talent to push forward in the Women’s National League.

Her signing also reinforces the club’s commitment to providing opportunities for Welsh players with international pedigree and long-term potential. With a coaching environment designed to develop both the person and the player, Gwalia hope Yarwood can take the next step in her career while contributing immediately to the team’s ambitions.
