Gwalia Open Training Session this Sunday!

After a week of baking heat across Wales, Gwalia United return to USW Sports Park this Sunday for an open training session in what is shaping up to be a more comfortable, balmy 24-degree morning: perfect conditions for football and for supporters to get a closer look at life behind the scenes.

Gates open at 9:45am, with the session beginning at 10:00am sharp at USW Sports Park, Trefforest. Fans will be able to watch the Gwalia United first team go through their full training programme, from technical work and tactical shape to small-sided games and match-intensity drills. It is a rare opportunity to see the detail, intensity and personality that sits behind a Women’s National League season, up close and uninterrupted.

Once training concludes, players will remain on the pitch to meet supporters, sign autographs and take photos—an open invitation for fans of all ages to connect directly with the squad.

Co-owner Julian Jenkins highlighted the importance of moments like this in strengthening the bond between club and community.

“Gwalia United has always been about more than just what happens on a matchday,” Jenkins said. “We want people to feel connected to the players, the staff, and the journey we are on together. Opening up a full training session like this gives supporters a real sense of the work that goes in behind the scenes, and it’s hugely important for us that young players and families can see that pathway up close. We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to USW Sports Park on Sunday.”

Head coach Cori Williams-Mills echoed that sentiment, emphasising the wider impact the event can have.

“For us as a group, having people come in and watch us train is something we really embrace,” she said. “It’s a chance to show the standards, the environment and the professionalism that exists in women’s football here in Wales. Hopefully it inspires women and girls everywhere to see what’s possible, and maybe even picture themselves in this environment one day. The players are genuinely excited to meet everyone afterwards and share that moment with the fans.”

Adding to the atmosphere, Cup of Casa Coffee will be on site throughout the morning, serving hot drinks and refreshments for supporters, helping turn the open session into a relaxed, family-friendly experience.

With sunshine expected and a strong turnout anticipated, Sunday’s session promises to be a simple but powerful snapshot of Gwalia United’s identity: open, ambitious, and rooted in its community.

There will be merchandise available also: Gwalia Bucket Hats, Water Bottles and Posters will be available at the gate.
