Gwalia Sign Rising Star Goalkeeper McGrogan

Gwalia United FC is delighted to announce the signing of talented goalkeeper Emily McGrogan from Swindon Town Women. McGrogan impressed in the first team with outstanding reflexes, cool composure, and distribution skills. Her standout performances earned her the 2024 Wiltshire Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

Gwalia United boss James Thomas expressed his excitement:

“Emily is an exceptional goalkeeper with a maturity beyond her years. Her bravery, technical ability, and hunger to improve align perfectly with our ambition. We believe she’ll be instrumental in shaping a strong defensive structure as we push to develop the enivronment.”

McGrogan shared her enthusiasm:

“I’m so excited to join Gwalia United. The club’s history, community and vision for young players really spoke to me. James and his team have been welcoming, and I’m ready to work hard, keep clean sheets and help the squad reach our targets.”

Swindon Town has paid tribute to Emily after ten impactful years, celebrating her growth from academy standout to reliable first-team player.

Manager James Thomas added:

“Bringing Emily to Gwalia shows our ambition to develop the very best young talent, especially in such a pivotal position. She’s already stood out with her ability, athleticism, and desire to keep improving — and with the depth of experience we have here, including our Wales international Laura O’Sullivan-Jones and a coaching team second to none, Emily has everything around her to thrive and there’s not many better places where a young goalkeeper to grow.”
