Gwalia United are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Danielle Broadhurst from Barry Town United — marking a homecoming for a player who began her football journey with Gwalia at the age of nine.
Broadhurst’s career has come full circle. Having represented Gwalia (then Cardiff Ladies) in the UEFA Women’s Champions League at just 16, she quickly established herself as one of Welsh football’s brightest young talents. She went on to play senior football from her mid-teens alongside Sophie Ingle and Kayleigh Green, helping the club earn promotion back to the top flight before later featuring for Cardiff City Women and Swansea City Ladies.
Broadhurst now brings leadership, composure, and a wealth of top-level experience back to Gwalia United as Stevie McCarthy-Campbell continues to shape his squad.
Head Coach Stevie McCarthy-Campbell said:
“Danielle’s experience speaks for itself. She’s technically excellent, understands the game at the highest level, and sets standards for everyone around her. To have her return to the club where it all started is a fantastic story and a brilliant addition for us.”
Broadhurst added:
“I’m really excited to be joining Gwalia United. The club’s ambition and the way they’re building for the future really appealed to me. It feels special to return to where my football journey began, and I’m looking forward to contributing on and off the pitch as part of what they’re creating here.”
