The wait is over. Gwalia United’s full fixture list for the 2026/27 FA Women’s National League Division One South West season has been confirmed, mapping out a first campaign at this level for the club since our promotion out of the tier back in 2022/23 – and a first-ever season in the division for the club under the Gwalia United name. It’s a new chapter after relegation from the Southern Premier Division, but it’s one this squad and staff are ready to embrace head-on. Our Club, Our Nation, Our Story continues – just with some new opponents, new grounds, and a points-based mission to get straight back to tier three.
A Different Kind of Away Day
We open the campaign away at Ascot United on Sunday 16th August – a long trek to Berkshire to kick things off – before we host our first home Division One South West fixture the following week, Sunday 23rd August against Bournemouth Sports.
Home advantage doesn’t last long, though. Just seven days later we’re back on the road for one of the standout fixtures of the opening month – away at Torquay United on Sunday 30th August – a meeting between two clubs who arrive in this division from opposite directions, with the Gulls coming up as South West Regional League champions while we come down from the Southern Premier. It also happens to fall on August Bank Holiday weekend, so travelling fans should could enjoy a long weekend in Devon.
Cup Football Brings Familiar and New Faces
The FA National Women’s League Cup group draw serves up a mixed bag. On Thursday, 27 August, we travel to Cheltenham Town, a familiar name from our time in the Southern Premier Division last season. Whilst Division One Midlands teams Kidderminster Harriers (home, 6th September) and Worcester City (away, 27th September) bring a fresh challenge against new opposition. The League Cup should provide a good early gauge of where this Gwalia squad stands against opposition old and new.
The Autumn Test
September brings a big early marker, when we welcome Moneyfields to the USW Sport Park on Sunday 13th September, a side that fell agonisingly short of promotion via the play-offs last season and will again be one of the teams to watch. A trip to Wycombe Wanderers follows on 20th September, another newly promoted club making their Division One South West debut, before October sees Keynsham Town visit us on the 11th, before we travel to Maidenhead United on the 18th. A rare midweek outing under the lights, sees us host Bristol Rovers on Wednesday, 28th October.
A Winter Rest, Then Straight Back Into It
There’s a welcome pause over Christmas and New Year, giving players, staff and supporters alike a chance to recharge before the business end of the season comes into view. That break ends on Sunday 10th January, when Torquay United make the long journey to the USW Sport Park – our first game of 2027. We’re straight back on the road the following week, with a trip to Moneyfields on 24th January, before Maidenhead United visit the USW Sport Park on 7th February. A second floodlit fixture follows soon after, as we make the short trip to Bristol Rovers on Wednesday 10th February.
Next up is Marine Academy Plymouth at home on 28 February, followed by a trip to Abingdon United on 14 March. Bridgewater United are the visitors to USW Sport Park on Sunday, 28 March.
The Run-In
The final home fixture of the regular season sees Wycombe Wanderers visit USW Sport Park on Sunday 11th April, before the curtain comes down on the campaign at Keynsham Town on Sunday 25th April – a trip to Somerset to bring the season full circle.
